Where these prices come from

We rounded the figures and blended the two guides into one range per size of home. The checker reads the range for your answers straight from the table above, then adds the extras you tick; steam is counted once for each bedroom plus the lounge. If a firm quotes well outside these ranges, ask what is included.

Cost questions

How much does bed bug treatment cost in Sheffield?

A spray course for a one-bed flat is about £280 to £550, and for a three-bed house about £360 to £750. Heat costs more: £700 to £1,100 for a one-bed and £1,000 to £1,700 for a three-bed. These are national guide prices; Sheffield firms are often at or below them.

Is the council cheaper?

For a standard home, often yes. Sheffield City Council charges £362 including VAT per treatment for a standard three-bedroom semi, £106 on qualifying benefits, plus £58 for each further visit. It offers insecticide treatment only, and larger homes are priced on request.

Why do some adverts say from £150?

A "from" price is usually one visit to one room. Bed bugs nearly always need two or three spray visits, and more than one room. Ask for the total, how many visits that covers, and what happens if bites carry on.

Is VAT included?

The guide prices on this page include VAT where the source says so. A small sole trader may not be VAT registered. Ask each firm so quotes compare like for like.

Why does heat cost so much more?

The firm brings several heaters, fans and probes, and an engineer stays for most of the day. In return it is usually one visit instead of three, and it reaches eggs that spray can miss.

Is it cheaper to treat just one room?

Sometimes, if an inspection shows it really is just one room: about £350 to £550 by spray or £500 to £800 by heat. Treating one room and missing the next means paying twice.
